I’ve never attended an education online fair and prefer meeting candidates face to face. How will this fair meet my needs?
With many students taking online classes and student teaching all over the U.S., it’s difficult for them to attend an on-campus fair. This online fair provides all candidates the opportunity to network with employers while not missing out on the face-to-face interaction. Employers may converse with candidates face-to-face through Handshake's video technology.
How will I connect with candidates through the online environment?
Your district will set up 1:1 video chats and/or group video sessions through Handshake. 1:1 sessions are 10 minutes each, and group sessions are 30 minutes each. It is highly recommended that your district set up these sessions at least three weeks prior to the fair. Districts that wait to set up their sessions until days before the fair may miss meeting with some candidates. For a walkthrough of this process, refer to Creating a Schedule for Virtual Fairs or check out Handshake's video on how to set your schedule!
My district has current teachers looking to advance their education. What are the ways they may participate in this fair?
This online fair is not only for employment opportunities but also a chance to connect with representatives from FHSU's College of Education. We are all happy to answer your questions related to furthering your education.
What technology do I need to participate in this fair? Is there anything I will need to download?
You will need a webcam or built-in camera and microphone. Chrome and Firefox are recommended browsers. Make sure pop-ups are allowed in your browser. For additional technical support, visit Handshake's Video Requirements & Troubleshooting guide for employers.
The fair runs from 3-5:30 p.m. CST.
School districts will set up their own 1:1 and/or group sessions for the duration of the fair.
What if I meet candidates online that I would like to interview in person or online?
Career Services has interview rooms available on campus or would be happy to coordinate a Zoom interview day. Call 785-628-4260 or email careers@fhsu.edu and we’d be happy to reserve and manage an interview schedule on the date of your choosing.
