FHSU/Dane G. Hansen Internship Program
If you’re interested in a local or regional internship, the FHSU/Dane G. Hansen program offers paid internship opportunities exclusively for FHSU students.
FHSU partners with businesses and organizations in the Hansen Foundation’s service area in northwest Kansas to provide internships. The student intern works at the employer’s place of business but is paid through Fort Hays State University.
Spring interns work approximately 15-20 hours per week, not to exceed 240 total hours. Summer interns may be able to work up to 40 hours per week, depending on enrollment status, not to exceed 300 total hours.
The program is open to FHSU students in any major or academic area of study, taking into account employer specifications. A student must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at FHSU during a spring internship. This requirement does not apply to summer internships.
Upon completion of the internship, the student completes an employer evaluation and writes a 2-page reflection paper about the experience.
To receive academic credit for the internship, a student must submit a request to his or her academic advisor and the internship coordinator. The advisor will make the final decision as to whether credit will be given for the internship.
Students who complete all program requirements are eligible for a digital internship badge.
