Program Expectations
For additional information, check out the program info sheet or full viewbook.
GPA Expectations: To remain in good standing with the Honors College, all students are expected to maintain a minimum (cumulative) 3.3 GPA each semester. (Scholarship recipients will need to maintain a cumulative 3.5 GPA to retain their scholarships.)
- If a student should fall below the GPA requirements, they will be granted at least one relief semester to help get back on track. The student is expected to meet other Honors College expectations the following semester in order to remain a member of the Honors College. If the student is able to successfully meet the minimum expectations, they will continue in good standing in the program. Special considerations may be allowed for special circumstances, but the student must take the initiative to communicate any issues with Honors College staff.
Semester Check-in: All Honors College students should complete a check-in each semester, either in person with Honors College staff or via Google Form.
Honors Housing: First-time freshmen are generally expected to live in Honors housing in Tiger Village for their first year. (Students from Ellis County are allowed to live at home if they choose. You will need to complete an off-campus request through Res Life.)
- All Honors College students are eligible for the Honors housing community as space allows.
- Tiger Village may fill all available rooms. Housing applications should be completed as soon as possible, once open. If Tiger Village rooms are not available, best efforts will be made to group Honors College students together in another building. Honors housing scholarships will still be applied to campus housing if Tiger Village does not have a room available.
- Students may request non-honors roommates and single-room requests are dependent upon availability. These requests cannot be guaranteed, but we will coordinate with Residential Life and make best efforts to meet as many requests as possible.
- First-year students will not be granted a single-room request without an accessibility request.
- In most cases, students are not able to be members of both a Living Learning Community and the Honors College community. If a student was previously placed into an LLC and has since been accepted into the Honors College, Res Life will confirm which community that student would like to be placed in before they make or change placements. For exceptions, we will coordinate with the student, Res Life, and the LLC.
- Students with disability or accessibility concerns are welcome to discuss appropriate accommodations with Honors College staff. Official housing accommodation requests should be completed with Health and Wellness Services.
