Chess success for KAMS senior
KAMS senior Sheena Zeng (Hays, Kan.) found success at two notable chess tournaments over the summer. Zeng was chosen to represent Kansas at the Denker Tournament of High School Champions in Orlando, Florida and won the Ursula Foster award, an accolade given to the top finisher under the age of 16. Zeng also earned the National Master title which requires a U.S. Chess Federation rating of 2200 or above. Zeng was the first female from Kansas to win this title.
Zeng also competed at the Chess World Open in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in July. She tied for 4th in her section and won a top "Under 2100 Rating" prize.
