April 2026 Student of the Month

Hans Deaton
Hans is an on-campus freshman from Quinter, Kansas. He started the 25-26 school year as a Business Management major but switched to Organizational Leadership after taking LDRS 300 with Dr. Kastle. Hans says that LDRS 300 was one of the best college classes he took during the fall semester, where he learned a lot about himself and his leadership style. Hans says, “looking back I can tell that Leadership was the correct choice for me, I have truly enjoyed my time at the Leadership Programs.”
Hans stated, “My favorite leadership class has been LDRS 302 with Justin Greenleaf. The different activities that we did to use the skills in mock situations helped me learn how to apply the concepts I had learned in the other leadership classes. Justin also has very engaging lectures and is always glad to help with your work. He also will cheer your day up with funny stories at random moments. This has definitely been best class I have ever taken.”
In his free time Hans is involved in Fort Hays Cross Country, Track, Concert Choir, Tigers in Service, and SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Committee). His current hobbies include playing and learning guitar for his church, pick-up basketball, and pickleball.
