Students of the Month
Kiera Dealy (On-campus)
Kiera is a freshman from Hays, KS. She is currently majoring in Business management with a focus on HR management, while also working towards a leadership certificate. On campus she is currently involved in the Clarinet Choir and the Leadership VALUE program. She also plans on joining the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) as she continues to explore her major. Kiera joined the Leadership program due to her previous leadership roles throughout high school. She knew she had room to grow and felt like joining the program was the next step in strengthening her leadership skills.
“I’ve only taken Discovering Leadership so far, but it has been a great starting point. It introduced me to different leadership ideas and made me think more about my strengths, habits, and the way I interact with others. It gave me a solid foundation, and I’m looking forward to building on it in future courses.”
Outside of class and clubs, Kiera loves baking spending time with friends, and catching up on her favorite shows.
Congratulations Kiera!

Jenna Schlyer (Online)
Jenna Schlyer, a Hays native, is currently in her junior year here at FHSU. She is working towards her major in Applied Communications, while also pursuing a minor in both Psychology and Leadership. Jenna is currently a VIP Ambassador for FHSU where she helps serve President, Dr. Tisa mason and attends various events to represent the university. She also works at the Center for Student Success on campus, where she tutors fellow students. Jenna decided to join the leadership programs after her time with the L3: Live, Learn, Lead community her freshman year. She realized how much leadership can grow her skills and become applicable to her everyday life. With this experience and the input of several peers who had been through the leadership program, Jenna decided to continue in her leadership journey.
“My favorite leadership course so far at FHSU has been LDRS 310. I loved the opportunity to apply my leadership skills in a hands-on project and to see how much I grew through the experience. My team raised over $5,000 and helped First Call for Help profit more than $2,000 from the event to support families in need. Seeing the hard work made a real impact, especially in the Hays community where I grew up, was incredibly meaningful. I’ve enjoyed carrying those same leadership skills into every area of my life, and I look forward to continuing to grow and lead as a Tiger!”
When she’s not working on campus or in class, Jenna is a dance mentor at Styles Dance Centre, where she works with and choreographs for students ages 3-18. She also loves to travel and spend time with friends!
Congratulations Jenna!
