Benjamin Cline is an American cellist who has performed in dozens of venues in the United States, Europe, and Asia. He has appeared as soloist with several orchestras, including the Kaohsuing City Symphony Orchestra in Taiwan, was featured in performance on Public Radio's WXXI "Live from Hochstein" in Rochester, and has collaborated with many noted musicians, including Yumi Hwang-Williams, Jun Iwasaki, Theodor Kuchar, Richard Fuchs, and Tali Morgulis. He is a highly versatile musician, performing frequently as recitalist, soloist, orchestral, and chamber musician. His repertoire is equally diverse, spanning from the earliest 17th century works to 21st century electroacoustic works for cello.
Ben enjoys an active career as Professor of Cello and Bass at Fort Hays State University, where he aso serves as Music Director of the Hays Symphony and Chair of the Music and Theatre Program in the School of Visual and Performing Arts. In these roles he is committed to increasing access to string pedagogy and the musical arts in rural and underserved communities, including his long time association with the Ad Astra Music Festival, and more recently as the cello faculty mentor for Music on Site.
Ben studied cello with Alan Harris at the Cleveland Institute of Music and Jim Fittz at the University of Northern Colorado.
