About the Hays Symphony
Fort Hays State University is proud to partner with the Hays Symphony in a vibrant and engaging orchestral experience for all. Established in 1914, the Hays Symphony provides artistic, educational, and entertainment opportunities to the Fort Hays State University, Hays and Ellis County, and High Plains communities. The symphony has been a cultural jewel and a point of pride for the community for over a century.
Since its creation, the Hays Symphony has made its home within Fort Hays State University’s music program, and the university’s music faculty have provided the symphony with artistic, pedagogical, and managerial leadership. The Hays Symphony, as a collaborative initiative of the university and the Hays community, is uniquely positioned to offer enjoyable and fulfilling musical experiences while advancing the work of civic engagement between the university and the Hays community.
Every member is important! The success of the orchestra requires each member to honor the contributions of all of the other members of the ensemble. We are committed to pursuing musical excellence and building community through a diverse range of literature and concerts. Learn more about the Hays Symphony and upcoming events.
