Dr. Juliet Kim’s distinguished career as a violinist and educator is rooted in a foundation of early excellence and rigorous scholarship. Her formal training began at the Colburn School, where her burgeoning leadership was recognized through the Wesley Bing Leung Scholarship Award for Leadership—of which she was the sole recipient—and the Herbert Zipper Scholarship in partnership with the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation.

Dr. Kim holds a Doctor of Musical Arts and a Master of Music from Boston University, as well as a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Vanderbilt University Blair School of Music, complemented by a minor in Child Development. Her academic journey was marked by high-level mentorship and support, including the Potter Opportunity Award, which facilitated her participation in elite festivals.

An accomplished orchestral leader and chamber musician, Dr. Kim has graced stages across Italy, Austria, Czechia, and Poland. Her professional credits include a multi-year tenure with the Boston Ballet’s Next Generation Orchestra as concertmaster, providing artistic direction and mentorship; memberships with the Boston Chamber Symphony and the Boston Civic Symphony; collaborative performances under the baton of esteemed conductors including James Conlon, Jonathan McPhee, Mischa Santora, and James Burton.

Dr. Kim’s artistic mission is defined by a commitment to the "lost" voices of the classical tradition. Her doctoral research specializes in the political contexts and performance histories of composers whose works were repressed by oppressive regimes. This dedication to diversifying the musical canon is a cornerstone of her professional identity; she actively unearths and performs works by historically underrepresented individuals, ensuring these narratives are integrated into the modern performance space.

As an educator, Dr. Kim synthesizes high-level technical precision with a holistic approach to musicianship. Her extensive teaching portfolio spans prestigious institutions including teaching students at Boston University, the Maestro Musicians Academy, Pianoberries Music School, and the W.O. Smith Music School. In every setting, Dr. Kim prioritizes a supportive, intellectually stimulating environment, curating diverse repertoires to expand her students’ cultural and musical horizons.
