Courses
The Institute for New Media Studies offers courses in multiple ways. Students can do directed studies and research projects with the institute. This can include working with other students and/or faculty.
The institute also offers some of its own courses which can be tailored to the learning goals of students who enroll. Our most popular course is the Videogame Creation class:
- In this course you will develop a portfolio and set of skills related to the construction of videogames. You will learn about design elements, technical implementation, and potential application in society.
- You will spend the semester working on a videogame with the entire class.
- You and your classmates will present your videogame project. This will take place during the final exam period.
- The class will create, submit, and present at Scholarly and Creative Activities Day.
- Over the course of the semester, you will construct a portfolio that demonstrates skills you have developed over the course of the semester. Each portfolio will be unique, but the basic requirements will be the same for all students. The portfolio is an individual project.
