Universidad La Rioja Program in Spain
This exchange emphasizes cultural and language immersion in Spanish. Universidad de La Rioja is located in Logrono, Spain, in the northern wine region along the famed Camino de Santiago. It is where the Monasteries of San Millán de la Cogolla, cradle of the first words written in the Spanish language, are situated. These monastic sites are included among UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. Founded in 1992, it represents an academic center devoted to the promotion of Spanish language and culture.

SEMESTERS IN SPAIN:
- Autumn, winter and spring terms have each 150 hours of Spanish language classes plus 45 hours of cultural courses:/195 hours per term. YOU MUST APPLY MONTHS IN ADVANCE, AS ONCE YOU ARE ACCEPTED YOU WILL NEED A VISA FOR REGULAR TERM PROGRAMS.

- Deadline for Fall Semester: Feb. 1
- Deadline for Spring Semester: Oct. 1
APPLICATION PROCESS:
- Submit the Program Interest Profile (PIP) on TigerLink by the deadline.
- Choose La Rioja, Spain as preferred program
- As soon as we receive the documents required, we will send you the acceptance letter of the University of La Rioja and the insurance policy so you may start with the procedures concerning your trip.
COURSEWORK/TRANSFERABLE CREDITS:
- Course Credit: Student will need to work with his/her FHSU department, the Registrar, and Study Abroad office BEFORE travel to determine course credits.
- Programs: The first day of the course, students take a test to confirm their knowledge of Spanish. Teachers distribute classes according to the levels.

Three of the complementary courses students may choose: Spanish Literature, Spanish culture and civilization and Spanish business.
- Summer term has 20 hours per week/80 hours per course, Monday to Friday, includes:
- Registration on the chosen course
- Educational materials
- Guided tours around the city, tourist sites and museums chosen by the organization as well as nearby places of interest (Museums, Wine Cellars etc.)
- Certificates and diplomas
- Medical and travel insurance
- Farewell Spanish meal
- Access to the University of La Rioja facilities
- Campus Information: The University of La Rioja is located on a modern campus in Logroño, capital of La Rioja, where 7,500 students are registered on courses in 26 undergraduate programs, Doctorates, Masters and other postgraduate courses. The University of La Rioja campus is on the outskirts of the city, and a short distance from the centre of Logroño, with a metropolitan area of 150,000 inhabitants. Logrono is located on the famed Pilgrim's Route to Santiago de Compostela.
HOUSING:
- Homestay cost: 650 Euros/month
- Dorms: 350-450 Euros/month (to be confirmed with the students residence when booking and depends on availability)
- Regular terms: as well as the above two options, students can share a flat with other students. Approximate cost 250 Euros/month.
- Summer term: students normally stay at the dorms or they chose a homestay.

FINANCIAL STATEMENT
- Tuition: Tuition/fees paid at FHSU
- Housing, travel, visa, medical insurance, etc. shall be the responsibility of the student to pay. The host institution will try to help with finding housing.

HEALTH & TRAVEL INSURANCE

- Students must obtain travel insurance which includes coverage in case of death and repatriation.
