Instructions
To create a file:
- In the header, click "Add Content"
- Click "Default", then select "File" and continue
This will open a modal window.
Upload a Single File
To upload a single file:
- Drag and drop a single file to the upload area
- In the "File Name" field, edit the file name as needed without changing the extension
- Under the "Metadata" tab, add a title, description, and other metadata as needed
- Click "Submit" and continue
This will upload the file to the selected "Placement Folder".
Upload Multiple Files
To upload multiple files:
- Drag and drop a folder (or multiple files) to the upload area
- Click "Submit" and continue
Using this method, files contained in subfolders will be moved to the top-level folder. To preserve your folder structure, upload a zip archive instead.
Upload a Zip Archive
To upload a zip archive:
- Drag and drop a zip archive to the upload area
- When prompted, select "Yes" to extract and save the contents into the current directory
- Click "Submit" and continue
For ease of use, always select "Yes" when uploading zip archives. Selecting "No" will store the file as a zip, which may require additional software to access on some systems.
Best Practices
Optimize Images
If your image is larger than 1 MB, it's best to convert it to a web-friendly format before uploading. The recommended formats are WebP, followed by JPEG.
You can choose these formats when exporting in tools like Photoshop, or you can use an online image compression tool to optimize it.
To optimize an image with Squoosh:
- Visit Squoosh and upload an image
- On the right side under "Compress", select "WebP" or "MozJPEG"
- Adjust the effort and quality settings as needed to reduce the file size
- Click "Download", then upload the optimized image to Cascade
