Academic Reinstatement
Students on Academic Warning who earn a term (and cumulative) GPA less than a 2.0 will be placed on Academic Restriction.
Students on Academic Restriction are not eligible to continue registration at FHSU unless they successfully appeal for Academic Reinstatement. Students on Academic Restriction are encouraged to take some time to reflect on their academic challenges and to make plans for a successful return, but students who feel ready to return may appeal for immediate Reinstatement.
Students who enroll at another college while away from FHSU are expected to meet university admission requirements to return to FHSU. The Reinstatement appeal process includes submitting official transcripts from other institutions to the Office of the Registrar
Students seeking Academic Reinstatement must complete and submit an Appeal for Academic Reinstatement form. To request a form, send an email to reinstatementsupport@fhsu.edu. A strong appeal includes thoughtful and complete responses to the questions and prompts on the appeal form. The Academic Reinstatement Committee will not meet with students in person or online, so it is important to include all relevant information in writing for the Committee’s consideration. Reinstatement is not automatic or guaranteed; each appeal is holistically considered by the Committee.
Students will be informed of the Academic Reinstatement Committee's decisions via email. Students who are approved for Academic Reinstatement will receive instructions on next steps and will work with their academic advisor to plan their upcoming classes. All students approved for Academic Reinstatement must to earn a term GPA of at least a 2.0 each semester until they return to Good standing.
Students seeking reinstatement for Fall semester 2026 must submit the completed Appeal for Academic Reinstatement no later than August 7, 2026. Decisions will be made the week August 10-13.
The deadline to submit Academic Reinstatement appeals for Spring semester 2027 is January 8, 2027.
FHSU does not approve students for Academic Reinstatement for summer semesters.
