How We Handle Insurance
If you DO have health insurance:
- Upload your insurance information to the Insurance section on the Patient Portal.
- We will file a claim with your insurance for medical services provided at Health and Wellness Services.
- After insurance has paid their part, we will bill you directly for any outstanding balance.
If you do NOT have health insurance:
- While payment is not required at the time of service, all fees are your responsibility.
- We will bill you directly for any outstanding balance.
- We encourage you to consider getting healthcare coverage as outlined in the Student Health Insurance section below.
We accept the following common healthcare insurances:
- BCBS Network
- KanCare Plans
- Cigna
- Aetna/Coventry
- Tricare
- UnitedHealthcare
- If your insurance plan is not listed, please contact our office
Student Health Insurance
Fort Hays State University offers a health insurance policy for eligible students. This plan, selected for Kansas Regent schools by the State of Kansas, is offered through Student Resources and is underwritten by UnitedHealthcare (UHCSR).
- Open registration is available online from 07/01 to 08/31 for the fall semester and from 12/01 and 01/31 for the spring semester.

UHCSR health insurance is available to all FHSU students carrying 6 or more credit hours (virtual students are not eligible). UHCSR is designed especially for undergraduate, international, health science, and other graduate students not eligible for graduate teaching assistant (GTA), graduate research assistant (GRA), or graduate assistant (GA) coverage.
