Teaching Innovation and Learning Technologies (TILT) provides the FHSU teaching community with a range of programs and services centered around effective teaching and innovative learning practices. Our goal is to enhance quality learning and professional development by providing workshops, individual consultation, course development support, and special programs designed to support professional learning and growth.
Educational Technology
Support the faculty and staff as they integrate technology into the learning environment to improve student engagement and success.
- Software Tools and platforms designed to connect with students; both synchronously and asynchronously and promote collaborative student engagement.
- Multimodal Content Delivery; documents-video-interactive lessons
- Broad support for use of the Blackboard learning management system
- Maintain the integrity of online programs through effective proctoring and course management strategies.
- Provide a comprehensive knowledge base to support TILT-manages technology resources
Course Development
Work collaboratively with faculty to help them develop online and blended courses. Our approach is consultative and our goal is to support each instructor’s vision by providing resources, tools and a fresh perspective.
- Developing new, or updating existing, online courses for delivery through the FHSU Online.
- Design--providing curriculum, course, or lesson design expertise (typically done on an appointment basis).
- Technology Integration- helping instructors integrate the right hardware and software to the instructional environment.
Serving the nearly 700 faculty of Fort Hays State University, TILT collaborates with offices across campus to design, develop, and deliver relevant support and training. We strive to provide meaningful professional development experiences in four key areas: pedagogy, scholarly research, service, and professional growth.
- Ongoing Faculty Development activities in the form of 15-minute targeted department meeting sessions, TILTed Tech workshops, or the annual Faculty Development Day.
- Resources, including videos, asynchronous courses, and the TigerLearn Blog.
- Consultation Services-- our teaching excellence coordinator or faculty development personnel can assist you one-on-one.
- New Faculty Support and Training--activities to acclimate to your position and enhance your teaching; attend New Faculty Orientation, Learn and Network Events, or, if you’re a new adjunct, participate in Foundations of Online Teaching.
