Getting Started
Review the program requirements here https://www.fhsu.edu/transition-to-teaching/index
If you believe you are close to qualifying in a specific subject area based on your review of your transcript and required courses, then you may submit an unofficial transcript for an eligibility review. Click on the READY? GET STARTED HERE! Box on the left. Or you may contact us directly - Rebekah Porter at 785-628-5498, r_porter2@fhsu.edu.
If you send official transcripts directly from an institution to FHSU for review, make sure you designate them to go to the Graduate School. Then ask T2T staff to obtain a copy from the Graduate School.
We will review your eligibility and respond to you within 1-3 business days.- Not Eligible: If additional pre-eligibility coursework is required, you will be notified of that coursework and it must be completed prior to accepting a contracted teaching position. Or if your GPA is low, you must take or retake coursework to get it to the required 2.75 level prior to being eligible.
- Eligible: The Praxis test for the subject area you qualify for must be passed prior to receiving a Restricted Teaching License. This license must be issued and in place while completing the program. Once it is determined that you are qualified for the program, you will receive an email indicating the specific Praxis test that you need to take. You should take the test early on to allow plenty of time to retake it, if necessary, or for the results to be available. You register for the test here: https://praxis.ets.org/test-taker/register-process.html.
- If you would like to receive a free credit to study and prepare for the test using 240 Tutoring, contact Kerry Schuckman at kschuckm@fhsu.edu. Not all subjects are included in 240 Tutoring. All Praxis tests have a free interactive study guide available to you through ETS once you have registered for the test.
