Applicants to the Master of Fine Arts (Sculpture) program at Fort Hays State University are required to hold a bachelor’s degree in art from an accredited institution, including at least 36 credit hours of art coursework. Of these, a minimum of 10 credit hours must be completed within a studio concentration.
GPA Requirement
Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in their final 60 credit hours of undergraduate coursework. Those who do not meet this requirement may be required to complete prerequisite courses before gaining full admission.
Application Materials
Applicants must submit an official undergraduate transcript, a completed Graduate School application, three letters of recommendation, a statement of purpose detailing their artistic goals, and a current résumé.
Portfolio Submission
Applicants must submit a PDF slideshow containing 20 images of original work, with each image clearly labeled with its title, medium, dimensions, and date. An accompanying image identification sheet is also required.
Review Process
The MFA Admissions Committee evaluates all application materials and may recommend remedial coursework if any undergraduate deficiencies are identified. The Graduate Dean makes final admission decisions.
Submission Deadline
All application materials must be submitted by February 1 for consideration for admission to the Summer or Fall semester.
