Three KAMS seniors named National Merit Semifinalists, one NHRP scholar
September 20, 2019
Three KAMS seniors have been named National Merit Semifinalists this year. Congratulations to Teddy Barfield (Wichita, KS), Ashley Pritchard (Wichita, KS), and Richard Whitehill (Goddard, KS) for achieving this honor!
Out of the 1.6 million PSAT test takers in the United States each year, only about 16,000 students are named National Merit Semifinalists. Each of these students has the opportunity to apply for National Merit Finalist status, putting them in line for academic recognition and scholarship opportunities. KAMS has now had a total of 16 students who have been awarded this honor since the beginning of the program.
An additional congratulations goes out to Richard Whitehill for being named a College Board National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP) Scholar. The NHRP recognizes about 7,000 academically outstanding Hispanic/Latino students who take the PSAT each year.
