A new and much more modern Agnew Hall opened at the beginning of this fall semester on the site of the former Agnew Hall, which was razed in the summer of 2010 because of its deteriorating condition and outdated layout.

A groundbreaking ceremony today between Lewis Field Stadium and Big Creek on the FHSU campus officially launched construction of a nearly $4.2 million indoor athletic training facility. The training facility is the latest in a series of four major construction projects that total an investment of about $30 million by the university. Cranes and other heavy construction machinery have become a common sight on the FHSU campus.

It was almost six years ago when Fort Hays State University silently launched the most ambitious fundraising campaign in its history. The goal of the Cornerstone Campaign, a total university effort that was led by the FHSU Foundation and scheduled to end in November this year, was to raise $60 million. Halfway through, just as the silent phase was ending, the campaign hit a potential snag. The national economy dipped into a recession, and the Cornerstone Campaign committee discussed timing options and the likelihood of being successful if it moved into the public phase by announcing the campaign and the $60-million goal: $30 million in cash and $30 million in deferred commitments. The campaign did end early, but it did so having collected $68,743,800, more than $8 million above the goal.

She will also support Foundation Development directors and members of the Board of Trustees. Roberts originally from Ogallala, Neb, graduated from FHSU in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in communications, emphasis in public relations, and was a member of the FHSU volleyball team from 2005-2008. She worked the past three years in the Office of Admissions at FHSU as the recruiter for Nebraska and North Central Kansas.

Sixteen Fort Hays State University students and one faculty member spent Jan. 8 through Jan. 14 in Austin, Texas, for the Tigers in Service Alternative Winter Break. The theme for the trip this year was hunger relief in Texas. The team served meals to more than 600 people and distributed food rations to more than 200.
