Stop Campus Hazing Act
Fort Hays State University is committed to providing an educational environment that does not tolerate hazing on our campus or within our student organizations.
The Stop Campus Hazing Act, an act that amends the Clery Act, requires prevention and transparency of hazing incidents that occur at FHSU. Prevention programs have been put into place for staff, faculty and students at FHSU to ensure all are aware of what hazing is, what constitutes a student organization, when and how to report, and processes used to investigate reported hazing incidents.
What is Hazing?
Hazing is the intentional, knowing, or reckless act committed by a person (whether individually or in concert with other persons) against another person or persons regardless of the willingness of such other person or persons to participate. Acts that are committed as part of an organization or group's initiation or membership activities or if such activities are part of the organization's traditions or rituals and place another person in danger of physical or psychological harm are considered hazing.
