2023 SACAD Awards

SACAD 2023: April 17th - 21st
The 18th annual John Heinrichs Scholarly and Creative Activity Days (SACAD) is this week! This event is free and open to the public.
Online content will be available via our online event site from April 17th - April 21st.
In-person presentations and creative exhibition will take place on-campus on April 19th.
- Poster Exhibition hosted in the Memorial Union Ballroom from 8:00am-3:30pm. Poster presenters will be available from 1:00pm-3:00pm.
- Oral presentations hosted in the Stouffer Lounge and Pioneer Room in the Memorial Union from 8:00am-1:00pm. Oral presentations will be recorded on April 19th and available online through April 21st.
- Art and Creative Works Exhibit hosted in the Memorial Union Black and Gold Room from 10:00am-3:00pm. Presenters will be available from 1:00pm-3:00pm.
- An awards ceremony will take place in the Memorial Union Ballroom from 3:00pm-3:30pm.

What is empirical research?
Empirical research involves examining a research question that is clearly defined and answerable by using standardized statistical, or disciplinarily accepted, methods on collected data. This may include either quantitatively or qualitatively collected data.
What is non-empirical research?
Non-empirical research focuses on theories and methods and is not necessarily data-driven. It involves the curation or consolidation of information or data derived from available sources within a disciplinary domain. This information is reinterpreted or reframed to further study in that disciplinary domain.
