Spring Semester Services and Access
On-site library services are available to all current FHSU students, faculty, and staff. Community members should call ahead to schedule an appointment library staff.
University policy requires face coverings in public spaces. Face coverings are required when entering and while using library public and classroom space as detailed on the FHSU COVID site. All persons in Forsyth must observe proper social distancing and hygiene protocols as indicated by signage and floor markings.
Many Forsyth Library services are available anywhere and anytime from this website.
Accessing Library Materials Online
- Search for Electronic Resources using the Search Everything tool on the library homepage. To see what's available electronically, apply the "Full Text Online" filter to your results.
- Research Databases allow you to search directly in a subject-specific or resource-specific database for more targeted searching.
- Access to digitized materials from Special Collections and Archives is available through Forsyth Digital Collections , and Archives Online.
Accessing Physical Library Materials and Services
- Borrowing and returning physical materials, technology, and interlibrary loans. Sign in to the library catalog with your TigerNetID to request books for pick-up. Full interlibrary loan services have resumed. The library book and periodical stacks are closed; however, access to browse the stacks will be allowed by request at the service desk in the library lobby. All check-outs for books or equipment will take place from the service desk in the lobby.
- Consultations with library faculty or staff may be arranged in advance through Ask A Librarian or arranging an appointment with library staff; however consultations will take place online whenever possible.
- TigerPrint for printing, copying and scanning. Patrons must already have, or must create, an account and add credits using a credit or debit card to access TigerPrint. Print vouchers are not available.
- Seating capacity is limited to 18 computer work stations, 20 casual seats, and 19 single-occupancy tables available on a first-come basis for individual study. Furniture should not be moved to ensure social distancing.
- All library meeting rooms are closed, including group and individual study rooms. The Media Lab is available by appointment only. View more information about library room reservations.
- Special Collections and Archives services are available by appointment Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm.
- Service partners and offices in Forsyth will be open and accessible, subject to their individual hours and service profiles. Contact the Writing Center, Tiger Food Exchange, MakerSpace, Honors College, Tailored for Tigers, English as a Second Language, Office of Scholarship and Sponsored Projects and various faculty/staff offices directly for more information.
Research Help and Instruction
- Ask a Librarian services will continue to offer research help every day of the week via chat, email, phone, text, and scheduled Zoom meetings. A librarian is available in the building at all times.
- Instruction can be arranged for asynchronous or synchronous online delivery and in-person instruction may be scheduled for Totally On Campus (TOC) and Hybrid Courses (HC) courses for Fall 2020. Librarians can work with you on a desired format and content for library instruction.
- Library research tutorials and subject and course guides are available to support research on your own time.
